Lisa’s Big Day

Lisa,  part of our marketing team here in Denver,  is a true outdoor kinda gal.

She fits in great with everyone in the fishing world and can even win over the grumpy old guys who wonder why this young lady knows more than they do. As for shooting and fishing look out, she can keep up with the best of em.

On a recent trip to Lake Granby just outside of Winter Park,  she showed the boys how to catch big Lake Trout. It was a tough day making the group move around a lot to find fish,  with wind and cold weather making it even harder to feel the light bites. Bernie Keefe, one of the Eagle Claw’s Pro Staff,  keeps telling me April is a great time for catching  big fish thru the ice. It’s the very end of the ice season and the fish are getting in the mood to eat up and put on some pounds.

After a few hours and not many fish, Lisa as projected, came away the big winner.

A Laker 45″ long, just 5/8″ short of the catch and release record. estimated at 35 poundslisa on granby 409 Lisas Big Day.

Even better, this one swam away for someone to catch next year!

    Hi Lisa,

    I have a Eagle Claw “Powerlight” No. MPLFX9-9ft SteelHead/Salmon Rod A-5 Wright&McGill Co. Denver, Co. U.S.A.

    I love this rod and it is still like new, although I bought it in the mid 70’s. I use it for primarly for float N Fly smallmouth fishing and it’s action and durability has been second to none. Do you have a new rod that would be simular in action? Please advise, thank you.

    Glad you love the rod. Powerlight is a series of rods Eagle Claw is in the process of reintroducing for 2010. It was a great series and we have some hot new models coming soon! The closest rod we have to the one you own right now is the Eagle Claw Granger ST212-9 Steelhead 9′ spinning rod.
